I found out about Urban Tandoor from a friend who lives in Harrison. Finally got a chance to try with my friend’s family for a big dinner. I called in a day before to reserve our table, was an easy process. Upon arrival we found street parking right in front of the restaurant and got to sit down at our table immediately.
The restaurant was modern with a huge bar. The menu had lots of popular and exciting Indian dishes + appetizers. There were some Indo Chinese dishes as well. The menu had a lot of alcoholic beverages and cocktail as well. I of course ordered the mango lassi that was excellent, sweet and dense.
Food wise everything I tried was delicious. The paya soup, samosa chaat, bhindi masala, shrimp korma, chicken tandoori, tikka masala, goat biryani, butter naan, paratha all were prepared so well with incredible flavor and spice. For dessert we ordered the gulab jamun, rasmalai and gajar halwa, again all them were so tasty.
The service throughout the dinner was good. Empty plates were taken out quickly. The dishes took some time to come out, about 20 minutes between appetizers and main course, but probably because they wanted us to take our sweet time at the dinner.

Had a wonderful dining experience at Urban Tadka!
We started off with soups – the tomato soup, manchow soup, and the highlight of the evening, the Hyderabadi paya (goat) soup. The paya soup was absolutely delicious and brought back authentic Indian flavors in every sip.
For starters, we tried the malai chicken and chicken 65. Both dishes were well-prepared and flavorful, and the Indo-Western touch worked really well. We prefer Indian-level spicy food, and the spice levels here were just perfect for us.
For the main course, we ordered a combo meal that included a mix of breads – 2 garlic naans, 1 butter naan, and 1 tandoori roti. We paired it with chicken Chettinad and mutton curry. The chicken Chettinad was good (I’d rate it 4/5), but the mutton curry was the real star – perfectly slow-cooked, tender, and full of rich flavors (5/5!). The rice bowl served alongside completed the meal nicely.
Last, for desert we had pan ice cream (4scoups) was worth every penny.
Overall, it was a great experience with delicious food and authentic flavors. Definitely a place worth visiting if you enjoy rich, spicy Indian cuisine!

The food here is some of the best I’ve had anywhere in Harrison — and even in New Jersey. We found this place on Instagram and reached out to them about hosting one of our office parties. One of our team members had come here before and recommended that we book it.
They gave us a really good price per head, and the food was amazing. They were serving Chicken 65, butter lamb chops, and outstanding shrimp dishes that were being passed around. I didn’t get to try everything, but I can tell you that what I had was incredible.
I would highly recommend the lamb chops, Hyderabadi Chicken 65 Biryani, Shrimp Pataka, and Crispy Corn Chaat. Their Navratan Korma, Dal Makhani and tandoori naan were also absolutely delicious. For Dessert they brought out a bunch of different house-made ice creams.. The Cassata was my favorite.
And the atmosphere — when we walked in, it felt like we were transported to an NYC restaurant. This place truly has the vibe of a New York City spot, but the food isn’t just hype.
The drinks were also some of the best Indian drinks I’ve ever had — tamarind margaritas, chai martinis, and all kinds of fun cocktails. The bartender was great, too.
We’ve been in this area for a while, but this was our first time here. It’s definitely the best Indian restaurant in Harrison, and maybe even in New Jersey. We’re definitely coming back with the family.

Had a great dining experience at Urban Tandoori. The Tandoor Paneer was exceptionally well-marinated and packed with flavor. The Dal Makhani was light and not overly heavy, making it very enjoyable. Their non-alcoholic drinks were refreshing and complemented the meal perfectly. Overall recommend the place!

Tried the Tableside Butter Chicken for the first time at Urban Tandoor, and oh my God—it was one of the best things I’ve ever had in my life. After trying it, I can see why they have such amazing reviews.
When you walk in the door, you’re greeted by a mountain of awards from various publications naming them the best Indian restaurant in New Jersey—and let me tell you, it’s legit. Everything from the service to the flavors to the overall experience was completely amazing. We got a couple drinks—the Spiked Mango Lassi and the Kalla Khatta. Apparently it’s made with imported Indian blackberries, and it definitely tastes different than any cocktail I’ve ever had.
The reason I’m really writing this review, though, is because of one thing. They had mentioned they had Diet Coke, and after a bit of a wait we received it. To my surprise, the wait was because they ran across the street to get Diet Coke just for us—that level of service is something I wish I could experience everywhere.
The tableside butter chicken was amazing. They started us off with some crispy corn chaat, and we also ordered a Chicken Tikka Taco—fantastic. Then they cooked the whole dish tableside, from smoking the chicken to letting us taste the housemade butter. The dish was served with fresh naan, and let me tell you—there was nothing left. We ate everything and loved every bite.
This place is definitely up there as one of the best Indian restaurants in New Jersey, but for sure the best Indian restaurant in Harrison. The reviews are legit, the service is amazing, and if you can, get the tableside butter chicken (they only do 1–2 a night).

I came for happy hour and it was amazing! My bartender Sahram was amazing! He gave good recommendations and made the drinks really good and strong, just how I like it. I ordered curry chicken, my drinks were mint margarita, rum mojito and a chocolate espresso martini. I would definitely recommend!

Found a cockroach in food!! This is pathetic!!
Response to restaurant's comment:
We want to clarify that our review is based on a genuine experience. We found what appeared to be a cockroach in our food, which was extremely concerning. Following this, your team, including your manager, reached out to us multiple times, we were initially told it might be cumin seed, but there was no clear or consistent explanation. Now, in your public response, you are stating it was burnt shredded ginger or garlic.
This inconsistency is exactly what concerns us. If there was uncertainty earlier about what the object was, it is unclear how you can now definitively claim that it was not what we initially believed it to be.
At the time of our conversation on phone, the manager also acknowledged the situation, confirmed that this is a genuine case and apologized, which we accepted in good faith.
However, it is disappointing to now see our experience being dismissed as a “false allegation” and accompanied by threats of legal action. Our intention was never to harm your business, but to share an honest account of what we encountered as long-time customers.
We have always supported your restaurant over the past three years, which makes this situation even more unfortunate. We stand by our experience and believe that customer feedback—positive or negative—should be handled professionally and transparently rather than through intimidation.

Sensational food and Very kind staff. We did the butter chicken table side experience and the executive Chef really customised the process and made it so enjoyable. Honestly it’s the best butter chicken I’ve had in NJ. Would highly recommend for anyone to come for a date night. More

We visited Urban Tandoor in Harrison to celebrate our anniversary, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The ambiance was lovely and provided the perfect setting for a celebration.
The service was exceptional. Our server, Manreet, was incredibly attentive, and the manager, Dheeraj, made sure everything was perfect for our special night. We ordered the Indo-Chinese dishes, and the quality and flavor were outstanding.
What really made the night memorable was the thoughtful gesture at the end; after letting them know it was our anniversary, they treated us to a delicious complimentary dessert. It’s rare to find such a combination of great food and genuine hospitality. Highly recommended!

I never usually write Google reviews, but after eating here I can definitely say that Urban Tandoor is the best Indian restaurant in New Jersey.
Everything was amazing—from the flavor to the service to the presentation. Everything was outstanding.
Eating here, with the ambiance and the wonderful service, really feels like you are dining at a restaurant in New York City. The interior is designed amazingly, and it definitely looks better than anything I have seen in Harrison.
Now getting to the food: the butter chicken was some of the best butter chicken I’ve ever had in New Jersey, and the biryanis are truly exceptional. I got the lamb mutton biryani and again, definitely the best biryani in New Jersey. Finally for dessert we had this gajar halwa, which was absurdly good, I attached a photo because it just looks so nice..
This place is definitely worth checking out. I never really go to Harrison, but this restaurant alone is the only reason I’ll come back over and over.

I have mixed reviews about the food. We ordered Crispy Corn and it was the most delicious crispy corn I ever had in my life. My husband and MIL liked it too. The drinks were also good. I liked Lychee Martini & Mango Mystery. However, Noodles & Paneer Manchurian and Paneer Tikka that we ordered did not serve good quality Paneer. It was very hard and was not prepared properly.
